Gitika Dhillon, M.D.

Dr. Dhillon is Board Certified in Allergy and Immunology as well as Internal Medicine. She is a Baltimore native and has completed her Allergy and Immunology training at the University of Rochester. Prior to that she was a research associate in the Department of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for two years. There she worked with Dr. Bob Wood, an internationally recognized expert in food allergy. Dr. Dhillon completed her internal medicine residency at Good Samaritan Hospital after graduating from Loyola College in Baltimore and Ross University College of Medicine. Dr. Dhillon has received awards for her research at the national level. In her free time she enjoys biking, travel and cooking.

Jonathan Matz, M.D

Jonathan Matz is Board Certified in Internal Medicine as well as Allergy & Immunology. He attended the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, and completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and Primary Care in the Department of Health Care Sciences at George Washington University Medical Center. He then completed a Fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine and University of Colorado in Denver, Co.
Jonathan Matz, M.D
Dr. Matz is the Director of Chesapeake Clinical Research, Inc which was founded in 1992 and is the instructor in the Department of Medicine at the John Hopkins School of Medicine in addition to working as a clinical physician. Dr. Matz is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Dr. Matz was born and raised in Baltimore. He is an avid skier and golfer, although his handicap hovers around 12- he keeps trying. He spends most of his free time with his wife and four children. He has been selected a Top Doc in Baltimore Magazine numerous times.

Sudhir Sekhsaria, M.D., FAAAAI, FACAAI

Dr. Sekhsaria has been practicing since founding the Asthma, Allergy & Sinus Center in 1992. He is board certified in Allergy & Immunology, and has been certified in Diagnostic and Clinical Immunology. Dr. Sekhsaria completed his fellowship in Allergy & Immunology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, after completing a pediatric residency at Howard University Hospital. He has published many scientific articles in

asthma, allergy and immunology. He is actively involved in teaching physicians-in-training about asthma, allergic disease and immune problems. Dr. Sekhsaria has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the specialty’s premier organization. He has been voted a TOP DOC in Baltimore Magazine multiple times.

Manav Singla, M.D., FAAP, FAAAI, FACAAI

Manav Singla, M.D., FAAP, FAAAI, FACAAI

 Dr. Singla is board certified in Allergy & Immunology. He completed his Allergy & Immunology fellowship at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he also spent a year on the medical school’s faculty. He is a graduate of the Northeast Ohio Medical University’s combined BS/MD program. He has published articles in allergy and immunology. He is actively involved in teaching physicians-in-training about asthma, allergic disease and immune problems.
Dr. Singla holds the rank of Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Singla has been elected a Fellow of both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the specialty’s premier organizations, as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Singla has been voted as TOP DOC by Baltimore Magazine multiple years.

Julia Wisniewski, M.D.

Dr. Wisniewski is Board Certified in Pediatric and Adult Allergy & Immunology. She obtained her B.S.E. in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2005, then completed combined residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in Manhattan. In 2012, she graduated from  the fellowship training program in Allergy and Immunology at University of Virginia (UVA) and began practice as an Assistant Professor of Pediatric and Internal Medicine. During her tenure working for the UVA School of Medicine, she enjoyed lecturing medical students and fellows-in-training and writing several  publications in the field of allergy and immunology. 

Dr. Wisniewski was exuberant for the opportunity to bring her growing family back to her hometown of Baltimore and join Asthma and Allergy Specialists of Maryland in 2020. She enjoys taking care of children and adults with food allergy, eczema, and severe asthma. She spends her free time studying complementary medicine and taking care of her garden.
Julia Wisniewski, M.D.

Amber Viel, FNP-C

Amber Viel, FNP-C, earned her Bachelor of Science and Nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. She also completed her Masters of Science and Family Nurse Practitioner training at Johns Hopkins University. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Point Lorna Nazarene University in San Diego, CA. Amber is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She joined the Asthma, Allergy & Sinus Center in November 2012. Previously she worked for an allergy asthma group in Los Angeles. Her past nursing experiences include running a community health clinic in East Baltimore where she specialized in chronic disease management for both children and adults.

Amber is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Amber spent two and a half years in Madagascar as a U.S. Peace Corps community health volunteer. Amber is also a certified yoga instructor and teaches yoga in her free time.

Alexandria (Lexi) Tolmie, FNP-C

Alexandria (Lexi) Tolmie, FNP-C, joined the Asthma Allergy Specialists of Maryland in December 2020. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Nursing degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed her Masters of Science and Family Nurse Practitioner training with the University of Cincinnati. She holds a prior Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from James Madison University. She began her healthcare journey through working on ambulances in Virginia. Prior to become a Nurse Practitioner, Lexi worked in the Emergency Department and Operating Room as a Registered Nurse. Lexi is certified by and a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

David B.K. Golden, M.D. (Emeritus)

Dr. Golden graduated from McGill University School of Medicine in 1976, where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine. He entered a fellowship training program in Allergy-Clinical Immunology at Johns Hopkins University, where he then directed a program of research studies on anaphylaxis and insect sting allergy for 30 years. In 1984, he founded the allergy practice that grew to Drs. Golden and Matz, LLC. Dr. Golden has published dozens of research papers and is invited to give lectures at national and international scientific meetings. He is now an Associate Professor of Medicine and a teaching clinician at the Johns Hopkins Asthma and Allergy Center. 

In addition to developing educational programs for the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology, Dr. Golden presents an allergy-immunology curriculum for medical residents in teaching community hospitals in Baltimore. Dr. Golden is the Chief of the Allergy Division of Internal Medicine at Franklin Square Hospital, and at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. He is also the father of 2 grown and successful children and the proud grandfather of 2 grandchildren. Dr. Golden has been voted TOP DOC in Baltimore Magazine numerous times. Dr. Golden retired from clinical practice in 2021 after serving the Baltimore community for 40 years. He continues to be active in the academic allergy community at a national and international level and devotes much of his time to supervising the development of guidelines for allergy practice in the U.S.

    Practice History

    Allergy Asthma Specialists of Maryland, in its current form, came together in 2019. The Asthma, Allergy, and Sinus Center was founded in Baltimore in 1996 by Dr. Sudhir Sekhsaria in its first office at Union Memorial Hospital. The practice slowly expanded with a second office in White Marsh. Then in 2005, Dr. Singla joined Dr. Sekhsaria, and they soon expanded the practice to include an office in Bel Air. Drs. Golden and Matz, LLC was initially founded by Dr. David B.K. Golden in White Mash in the 1980s. Then Dr. Jonathan Matz joined Dr. Golden to create Drs. Golden and Matz in 1995, and they grew to locations in White Marsh, Owings Mills, and Bel Air. Both groups came together in 2019 to create the Allergy Asthma Specialists of Maryland.
